When we talk about space strategy games, the first few things that come to our mind are Star Trek, Star Wars and Battlestar Galactica. Taking my own preference, I love Star Trek. And I would definitely love to pilot the enterprise and go out on space quest with Spock by my side. And it isn’t sad, being a nerd. I would still love to explore space while I do the best that I can to save the people of my planet and beyond.

Not just star trek or star wars, but even if you are a fan of the marvel universe, since the arrival of the guardians, we have seen a lot of space adventures there too. Who wouldn’t like fighting alongside them while rescuing the world and jumping around the space into different jumps or wormholes? These are the lives fantasized by a lot of people and I still think we’re years behind on the research that could ever lead us to live it. This is why here is the list of some great games that you would definitely love and would satisfy your fantasy to a level where you wouldn’t mind not getting to live it.

6 Best Space Games of Strategy and Exploration

1. Star Trek Online

Star Trek Online

It was quite predictable that this game would have to be on the top. A lot of people appreciate star trek and a lot more of them love it more than their lives. This game is a tribute to their dedication and love to the star trek franchise. It is definitely one of the best games available on space strategies and would definitely bring a lot of gamers into light due to its fandom. The most important thing to focus on right now is that just like the movie, the game has come a long way in a short period of time.

It isn’t just me who really loves the game, there are a lot of gamers who believe in it to be a great success and they most definitely aren’t wrong. I’ve been in love with this game since the day it was released and would definitely continue to do so whether you perceive it to be biased or unbiased. This game needs the attention of a lot of people and is getting it fair and square without a doubt. It makes me happy to be able to play a game that is based on one of my most favorite movie franchises of all time.

A lot of people disregarded the game in the beginning but even they came to their senses when the game fled on. Although a small catch in the situation is that this game isn’t great for gamers who like the franchise. It is good for fans of star trek who just need a hideout in their free hours. Although by its features, you must actually feel like you are in star trek and you are managing a Starfleet command by administering the shields and fleets under your command.

It even looks into one on one battles which are quite exciting. I would definitely recommend any and every star trek fan to check this game out.

2. Outer Wilds

Outer Wilds

A lot of people confuse this with the Outer Worlds. Although that too is a great game this simply trumps it. In this game, you are basically an anthropologist who is serving as an astronaut and you are cast into the wilds of space to explore the ruins along the solar system to know more and to discover any unknown lives situated on the planet.

You are basically on a mission to find out the most about a given alien race call the Nomai. These people cover up mysteries under their hoods and you have to uncover them by gaining as much knowledge as you can about them. It depends on your decisions about how the mystery opens itself up in front of you.

There are a lot of planets to visit and learn from and you might need to stay focused on your mission. It provides a 20-minute loop as the game concludes your journey and you get to know the information that you have been searching for. So it is a great game whether you wish to complete it in a single sitting or you wish to play it in small installments at a time.

3. No Man’s Sky

No Man’s Sky

A lot of people have heard of the phrase, “no man’s land”. Here, you will come across a new concept which is quite elegantly placed. “No Man’s Sky” is a quite innovative title itself to attract players. It describes space as an endless and unconquerable vista and that basically is a very intriguing idea. It is developed by Hello Games and they have tried a lot to make it the most desirable game for all.

It bases itself as a space research and discovery game. All you need to have is a desire to discover the most mysterious and unknown places of space along with unvisited forms and unique creatures. It has several updates and would definitely be great as they have now introduced VR compatibility which will get you the best experience of this game. It wasn’t so great initially but with time, its updates have stabilized the overall performance. Check this game out to find out more about it.

4. Stellaris

Stellaris

This game might not be so impressive on its very first look but due to the chain of events that take place into it, you will feel a certain curiosity in space that you just can’t let go of. Some people might tedious but if you actually have an eye on space exploration and strategical games, this is the one for you. It is a quite unique game and provides a lot of brilliant insights into the same.

It accommodates the discovery of alien texts, mutant uprisings and robotic rebellions too. It is basically a roleplaying game based on galactic empires and it provides the gamer with a wide array of scenarios to manage and go through in order to have a good experience of this game. I personally liked the game and I think it is a must to play this game at least once. Check it out to fulfill your desire of playing a space strategy and adventure game.

5. Battlestar Galactica: Deadlock

Battlestar Galactica: Deadlock

Another one of my favorite franchise-based games, I definitely love it. I would never sell this game out even if the whole world goes against it. Just being able to go through this experience, makes me feel so blessed because I could never have imagined being seeing such a game in my entire life. Being developed by Black Lab Games is in itself credibility.

It provides a similar experience as that of Battlestar itself and tries to involve as much of the plot as it can. The best thing about this is trying to accommodate reality into the game as much as possible because it provides a more realistic feeling to the player. Accommodating things like closing in on the sides of the vessel owned by your enemy to manifest your troops and using nukes to win through the situations are some things that actually attracts players.

It promotes victory in such a way that the gamer forgets of being in a game rather than real life. Maintaining your strategy throughout the game is very essential to survive. You need to minimize your damage intake and maximize your offense to win in such situations which will be quite evident once you get into this game. Try this game and you won’t be disappointed.

6. Eve Valkyrie

Eve Valkyrie

Now, this would make it seem like I’ve saved the best game for the last. It would simply blow your mind even by just reading it. I know you might not get what’s what at first but it will definitely appeal to you in a way that you won’t be able to resist it. It makes use of the most recent technology which makes it much more interesting due to the current methods of using VR and all the similar technologies.

This is a scrappy dogfighting game revolving around space and would provide the best simulation of this genre in every way. It is a great first-person immersion game that wouldn’t disappoint any type of gamer due to its great ways of keeping the respect of gaming intact. This game takes even the smallest details into consideration which makes it the best in this category yet.

It brings to life a great experience of piloting a spacecraft that is shaped like a duck while having to go through normal life issues. Bringing to life the thrill of this game is the best thing that could’ve been used in this game. The more details they put in, the more real it gets. Accommodating VR into PC is what I appreciate them for the most.

I hope I was able to help you choose from the best space games to play next which accommodates space strategies. These games are one of my personal favorites and would definitely feel great if I could get into any of these in real life.
